Southern Shores Cruises has teamed up with Create A Castle, the 2020 Toy of the Year winner as seen on Shark Tank, to bring a world-class sandcastle building experience to the Grand Strand! We move way beyond the old-school bucket and spade, using our patented pro tools to help you create massive, gravity-defying sculptures that look like they belong in a contest!

- North Myrtle Beach: Join us right on the sand at 3rd Ave North, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582. It’s a beautiful spot with plenty of room to spread out and create. Public parking is available at several locations nearby and we will meet right in front of Avista Resort!
Spot Dolphins While You Carve
One of the best parts of building on our beaches is the view. While your hands are in the sand, keep an eye on the water! We frequently see Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins playing in the surf just offshore. To celebrate our local marine life, our instructors will show you the “stack and carve” method used by the pros. We’ll even walk you through the specifics of how to carve a dolphin next to your sand creation. From getting that sleek dorsal fin just right to detailing the tail, you’ll learn the tricks to bringing these majestic animals to life in the sand!

Can family members watch without being charged?
Absolutely! We love having a cheering section on the sidelines. Observers are more than welcome to hang out and take photos at no cost. However, please keep in mind that our pricing is per builder. To keep the experience fair for our paid guests, we have to be firm that only those who have booked a spot can use the tools or participate in the building and carving process.
What happens if it rains on the day of my lesson?
The fun doesn’t stop just because of a few clouds. If the weather isn’t cooperating for a beach build, we move our program indoors to the Kingston Resorts location. You will get to work with our BuildMaster indoor kits which use a special mess free compound. It was a 2023 Construction Toy of the Year finalist, finishing right behind LEGO, and it is just as much fun as the sand.
Where exactly do we meet?
We currently serve two primary locations: 3rd Ave North in North Myrtle Beach and Kingston Resorts. Once your booking is confirmed, we will send you a follow up with the exact meeting coordinates and parking instructions so you know exactly where to find your instructor on the sand.
Is there an age limit for the lessons?
Not at all. We have had everyone from toddlers to grandparents successfully building massive towers. Our patented kits are designed to be intuitive and our instructors adapt their teaching style to the age and skill level of the group. If you can hold a tool, you can build a masterpiece.
Do we need to bring our own buckets and shovels?
Leave the old plastic buckets at home. We provide all the professional grade equipment you will need, including our Shark Tank featured kits and specialized carving tools. Just bring yourself, some sunscreen, and your creativity.
Can you really teach me how to carve a dolphin?
Yes! It is one of our most popular requests. Using our stack and carve method, we will show you the step by step techniques to detail dorsal fins and tails. It is a great way to add a local Myrtle Beach touch to your castle.
How long does a typical session last?
Our standard lessons typically run for about an hour. Create A Castle molds greatly increase the speed of building a detailed sandcastle which gives us plenty of time to get your structures stacked, stable, and beautifully carved without anyone getting too worn out by the sun.
Do you offer custom sculptures for special occasions?
