Southern Shores Island and Dolphin Cruises is a new business founded by the owners Jay and Captain Ben in 2022. While this is the first year for the company, it is by no means the first year on the water for its owners and staff. Jay has 30 plus years in boat mechanics and maintenance and has spent the last several years running a local deep-sea fishing charter. His attention to detail and knowledge of USCG regulations and rules will ensure a safe cruise and smooth sailing for all of our guests. Captain Ben has been in the watersports industry for last 10 years in the area, accumulating thousands of hours experience operating watercraft on the Intracoastal. He knows the waterway like the back of his hand, and passes his knowledge and experience on to his highly trained staff of captains and crew. Together, they know how to give visitors and locals a unique experience with memories that will last a lifetime!
Southern Shores Island and Dolphin Cruises purchased their boat “The Getaway” in 2022. This boat has a lot of history in Myrtle Beach and has been around over a decade. The Getaway is custom-built 42 ft 2001 Walter Greene Catamaran cruiser. The boat is powered by two 140hp diesel engines, ideal for a comfortable cruising speed. It has a 16 ft beam (width), which gives guests plenty of space aboard and handles waves safely. The main difference from other charter boats in the area is the drop down ladder on the bow of the boat, which allows guests the opportunity to exit the boat on the beach and explore the barrier islands; this is the only charter boat in the area with this feature! All together, your cruise on the Getaway will be a safe, unique, and enjoyable ride that will have you coming back for more!
